Dear
Barefoot Central:
Hi my name s Robert
Greene. I would like to nominate Gary
Butler for Barefooter of the
Month.
Even though I feel Gary
deserves more like barefooter of the decade,
footer of the month would be just a small recognition for 20+
years of dedicating so much to the barefoot community.
He hosts tournaments
and clinics at his private lake
yearly. He spends his time helping out
footers with training or just pulling people around.
Gary is a real asset to the barefoot community and should be
recognized for doing so. Gary is also part
of out Senior World
Ski Team and has
paid the dues to get there.
His doctor has put him back together so many times now you
gotta wonder how many bionic parts he now has in
him. He always comes back after an
injury and manages to ski at a level I'll never know.
Those of you that know
Gary will agree that he is a no nonsense type of person.
I feel that is a good quality. No
wasted time. "GIT'R
DONE" "What are we working on today?"
"Get out there, daylight is a
burning". Gary is a what you see is what
you get type of guy.
I've been lucky enough
to know and ski with Gary for almost 10 years and I owe my great form
and solid skiing ability to him. Even
though I choose to just foot, nothing
special, just go out and have fun,
Gary does not hold that against me.
He is always there if I decide to
take it to the next level. Like most
of us that ski with Gary, we could never
imagine how many gallons of gas he has invested into our skiing.
He will never take a dollar toward the mission,
"just wipe down the boat and I hope you had a great day!"
What a guy.
So if we are really
recognizing people for what they have giving to the barefoot
community then this is a no brainier. Gary
has giving more then anyone I know.
Robert: Gary is a great nominee. I've only known him a few years,
but I've seen him do almost anything that needs to be done at every
event. I put a collogue of pics together above that I took at
different events over the years. You'll always find Gary doing
something, whether it's video camera repair, safety judging during jump,
being a dock starter, to excepting gold medals at the awards banquet.
Last year he even got involved in the BFC Cup Series races we held in
California. He helped the Delta Geriatrics defeat Team BFC.
Gary may come across as a tough, hard nosed SOB, but we all know that
actions speak louder than words. He's proven himself to be a
caring friend, tough competitor, and ambassador to the sport we all
love. Thanks again for nominating him.
Chuck Gleason
Congratulations Gary!
