Dear Chuck,
We would like to nominate Rich LaFave as Footer of the Month. We met
Rich back in 2005 when he joined our show team. He needed to find a new
boat driver because his driver got pregnant (also his wife!). He started
skiing on our show team in May and by July he had broken his ankle. This
drove him crazy, no footing. By the time he returned, he ended up
dislocating his shoulder before the season was done. The next season
came and he was hurt by the first show. This time he tore his MCL and
PCL and partially tore his ACL. Once again he was our team pontoon
driver. Not where he wanted to spend his time. He is a teacher and
summers are important to him! However, no one could keep him off the
water. He was back skiing soon after his physical therapist advised him
not to ski, brace and all. He would go to physical therapy and come down
to practice. With Rich being hurt so often, he was unselfish enough to
stay around and help teach other footers. He also has a boat and is
willing to take out footers all the time. This is great for all our
boatless skiers! He is as the co-chairman of boneheaded ideas. They have
skied 21 of the last 24 months – and they live in Wisconsin where they
have had to shovel off the landing just to get the boat in the water! He
has also taken on Vice President of our ski team and will take over the
president role in October.
Now
on to the real reason behind Rich being nominated as footer of the
month. He is able to do all this because of his great wife- Allie. She
is undoubtedly the backbone of the family. They have 2 young girls under
the age of three, Abbie and Clair. They just moved from their big house
to one on the river so he can ski more often, no matter that there is no
yard for the kids to play in. They are on the river! She is always
supportive of him in all ways! And it is a help to our team! If anyone
finds a way to clone her-give us a call! Truly she is one of a kind!
Sincerely,
Brady Guth, Kyle and Renee Erickson
Thanks for taking the time to nominate
Rich. He sounds like a great guy, father, and husband. Congratulations
Rich,
you've now been added to a select list of footers from all around the
world that can claim a BFC Footer of the Month nomination. And
you're now eligible to be voted the 2007 BFC Footer of the Year.
So start your campaigning sooner than later. The voting gets
tougher each year. Good luck, and keep skiing hard.
Chuck Gleason
