USING OUR FEET TO DEFEAT MS

May 7, 2006 - St. Charles, IL - Fox River

MS (Multiple Sclerosis) is the number one disabling disease of young adults.  It is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system.  Symptoms may be mild such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision.  Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, but the unpredicatable physical and emotional effects can be life long.  The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS in any one person can not yet be predicted.

JAN’S FANS: A team comprised of family, friends, and others interested in combating MS.  Jan’s Fans was established 9 years ago by Tom and Janice Hart.  Janice was diagnosed 10 years ago with MS.  She is very fortunate, and appears to have a slow progression of the disease.  She lives a relatively active life, and works full time as a nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery.  There are many others that are not so lucky, which is why we formed our team, Jan’s Fans, to raise money to end the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Our team members obtain pledges and use their “feet to defeat” this disease by participating in the MS WALK.  Some of our team members walk their miles pledged, while our more crazy team members get a little creative and prefer to water ski and barefoot waterski their miles.  They hope to draw attention to the symptoms people with MS experience everyday, such as fatigue, numbness and tingling, caused by the frigid Chicago water in April.

While great strides are being made toward understanding and combating this disease, there is still much to be done…and research needs $$$$$$$$.  Jan’s Fans has raised over $100,000  for the National MS Society.

  May 7, 2006 (8 am CST) is the date for this years MS WALK.  Can we count on you for a donation or participation??  100% of proceeds collected by Jan’s Fans goes directly to the National MS Society.  Donations can be made out to the National MS Society and forwarded to……..
