November 5, 2006
- Team Top Gun Stuns everyone
with a WIN in Austin
Team Top Gun stunned
both SkiPro East and Barefoot Central with a dominating win at the 2006
Austin Dam to Dam. The D2D was lengthened 4 miles from 20 to 24
miles, but shortened to only a single day for the Cup Series Teams.
The decision by the race organizers, who happened to be members of Team
Top Gun, did not sit well with the other Cup Series Teams. Instead
of skiing in the finals on Sunday, the Cup Series Teams were forced to
sit on the side-lines and watch. Instead of skiing a competitive
final, they were asked to ski in what the organizers called "The
Consolation Heat". After a heated discussion between Chuck Gleason
of Team BFC and Blake Ehlers (D2D Organizer), the 3 remaining Cup Series
teams (Top Gun, BFC, and SkiPro) lined up and raced against each other
again. Team MVS had left to drive home the previous day after
finding out there would not be a Sunday final for the Cup Teams.
Team BFC was left to race with only 3 members (KSO, Chuck & John Hill)
since Cody Heller had flown home the previous day. Team SkiPro
East was left to ski with Tony B, John Skobrak, Bob Case and local
footer Merl Tores. Despite the lack of skiers, the teams had a
great race, neck and neck most of the way. Team BFC ended up with
the win after a long run by Chuck put them in the lead.
Congratulations
goes out to Brent Keadle of Team Top Gun for winning his first "Last Man
Standing" shirt.

- Team SkiPro East secures Cup
Series Trophy
Due to Team BFC's DNF at the Mississippi River Challenge,
Team SkiPro East was able to all but guarantee a 2006 Cup Series
victory. In order for them to statistically loose the series, they
would have to DNF at one of the remaining races, then place 3rd or
worse, while either Team BFC or Top Gun finishes 1st at both the D2D and
Orlando races. The odds of this happening are slim, and with the
pressure on all the other teams to perform, SkiPro East just needs to
sit back and wait for their names to get engraved as they become the
3-Time winners of the BarefootCentral.com Racing Cup Series.

- First Race of 2006 Racing
Season set for Sept 22-24 - Dallas, Texas
BIG
ANNOUNCEMENT RELATED TO CUP SERIES CASH PRIZES
In order to make each of our four
events a bit more exciting this year, we have decided to change up the
way cash awards are handed out. We have a $5000 cash prize pot,
and instead of paying it out to the series winners at the final race, we
are going to give every team a chance of winning a portion of it at each
race. For those of you who attended the Dallas race last year, you
will remember this.
We'll be running a $1000
Cash Prize raffle at the end of each Cup
Series Race. The goal of each team is to win as many tickets as
possible which will be used in
the raffle. Here's how it works:
Every
Cup Series Team that enters
each race will be given one ticket.
So just in case you break down and can't finish a race, you'll still
have a shot at the prize money.
Additional tickets will be awarded to teams based on how they place in
each race, whether it be a preliminary race or final. For
instance. If their are 3 boats in your heat, teams will be awarded
tickets based on how they place as follows:
1st Place = 3 tickets
2nd Place = 2 tickets
3rd Place = 1 ticket
Please note that
only Cup Series Teams are eligible for tickets, but if you are a Cup
Series Team, your ticket allotment is based on how you place against all
teams in your race, whether they are Cup Series or not. So non-Cup
Series Teams can act as a spoiler for your ticket allotment.
If there are 6 boats in a heat,
then tickets will be awarded as follows:
1st Place = 6 tickets
2nd Place = 5 tickets
3rd Place = 4 tickets
4th Place = 3 tickets
5th Place = 2 tickets
6th Place = 1 ticket
At the end of the awards ceremony, all the teams will
be asked to place their tickets into a bucket. We will draw the winning
ticket from the bucket and award the winner $1000.00. Good Luck!! If
you loose your tickets, you won't get new tickets and your team will
most likely tar and feather you.
The ultimate prize remains getting
your teams name engraved on the BFC Racing Cup Series Trophy.
