Ron Scarpa Decides NOT to Re-Open RSWS

January 17, 2012

Back in September we reported that Ron Scarpa was planning to re-open Ron Scarpa Watersports in Orlando after Paul Macdonald had to close the school in Winter Haven, Florida.  Ron was to hire Australian Brendan Paige to be his 2nd instructor at the new school.  The plans were to re-open by Feb 2012 and begin pulling students.

After several months of soul searching and looking at the financial viability of running a barefoot ski school while at the same time running his construction business, Ron has decided it's just not feasible.

We asked Ron what caused him to make this decision:

Several factors went into it.  I think if I do this, it will stretch me too thin. My construction business is taking off and I wouldn't have the time to commit to it that I originally thought I would have.  I don't want to do something like this if I can't do it right.  I also have my family to consider.  My two daughters are growing up and I want to be active in their activities.  Then there's the financial part of the business.  It's expensive to run a school the right way.  Doing it only part time would not cover the overhead.  So I've come to the conclusion that I'm not re-opening.

Ron went on to explain how much it hurts him knowing that RSWS closed the way it did.  He has such great memories of his school and the students he's taught throughout the years.  When asked if he'll still be available for clinics, he replied that he surely would consider it, but he'd have to schedule them around his business and family events.

RON SCARPA WATERSPORTS GEAR SELL-OUT
Ron asked us here at BFC to help sell his remaining Ron Scarpa Watersports gear in our on-line store.  You'll find all of his remaining inventory on the site at http://www.barefootcentral.com/ronscarpa.aspx  This is the only remaining inventory.  There are no plans to produce more once it is sold out.

For more information, or to inquire about private clinics with Ron, email him at ron@barefootbrothers.net, or friend him on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1627707546
