Barefoot Race

The weekend in sunny Ocala, Florida started at Transitions Watersports for our skier meeting and hat draw for teams.  The teams went as follows:

Team SkiPro                Team Barefoot            Team Falcon

Gene Camp                  Kevin Camp                 Nate Stockman

Don Simons                 Chris Swor                    Chris McWatters

Todd Fipps                  Mark Browning              JJ Link

Mark Donahue             Craig Miller                   Eric Schrepelle

Rob Scott                     Josh Miller

As the sun came up on Saturday morning, so did the NE wind and anyone who has skied our lake knows that this adds to the race. “The Gates of Hell” as we all call it. It all started out pretty well until we got to the SW corner and that’s where as we thought the SkiPro was at a sure advantage and they slowly pulled ahead. Although they had some work to do as well to get through, they still pulled away. So that left our two boats to fight it out. After about ten minutes of churning up the already rough water we agreed to pick up and move to little more skiable area. Seeing that there was no real title on the line and all the old guys were in the SkiPro (sorry Todd) we didn’t see any reason to kill anyone with the Figure 8 the next day. So we picked up and played our mulligan.  In the end the SkiPro ended up with the Lake Weir Cup as the other guys stumbled their way across the finish.
